Among other tasks ahead, we are planning to conduct training to our constituencies thus participating in this workshop, knowledge acquired will give as light especially topic 7 on "How to conduct technical training of Information security". Further more since we are also at the brainstorming stage on investment of equipment required the knowledge will play a big role in sourcing relevant equipments and thus follow right approach. ROLE IN NATIONAL NETWORKING ACTIVITIES ====================================== A description of your current employer, your position, your duties and responsibilities, and how they relate to current and future data networking activities in your country* ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I am currently employed by Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) an independent body responsible for regulating the Postal, Broadcasting and Electronic communications industries in the United Republic of Tanzania. Tanzania has recently adopted a new legislation which among others has given TCRA mandate to establish and oversee operations of CERT the country for Tanzania to join hand with the rest of the world in responding with computer security incidents. I am Principle IT Officer working under ICT Development section in ICT department. The department under our section together with other duties is tasked to facilitate modernization of National ICT infrastructure and related security issues. With regard to this task, we are expected at the end of the year to have raised awareness of the cyber security and have CERT operational at least at the level of rendering reactive services to its constituency. Apart from other professional training under gone such as Advance Integrated Networking & Systems Security, Cyber security Workshop- Implementing CERT in Africa conducted by ICANN and FIRST in Kenya, SCNS - Tactical Perimeter Defense, I have also participated in CERT readiness in East Africa training organized by ITU and IMPACT. Collective knowledge acquired from attended trainings and workshops together with my current work responsibilities as previously described qualifies me for the CERT and advance CERT track. Tanzania has also join force with East African countries ( Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi) under the umbrella of EACO where I am member of Cyber Security Task Force.
